Tea 101

Here is Tea 101 from Earth Mama Angel Baby!
Now that you have a loose organic tea, what do you do with it?
Rule #1: Don’t panic!
People have been making tea from medicinal plants for eons—long before there was even such a thing as a tea bag and so can you. It’s simple!
The active ingredients or “medicine” in herbal plants can be extracted in a myriad of ways. When it’s extracted in alcohol, it’s called a tincture or a maceration. When it’s extracted in oils, it’s an infusion. And when it’s extracted in water, it’s called a tisane or ---yep—TEA! The trick is to infuse the water with the herbs and not let the herbal goodness escape.
Here’s what you do:
Boil approximately one cup of water for each cup of tea you want to make. When the water starts to boil, add about 1 (heaping) tablespoon of herbs (tea) to the teapot or water. Put the lid on the teapot. If you’re making tea in a pan on the stove, immediately take the pot off of the heat. That’s it! Just let it rest for about 10-15 minutes. Now all you have to do is strain the herbs from the water and you’re good to go.
When making a tea from herb roots, it’s best to simmer the roots for a while. But all of the teas from Earth Mama Angel Baby are made with the leaves of the plant and they need only a few minutes to allow the cell walls to break down enough to release their active ingredients into the water. The pot needs to be covered to prevent the delicate essential oils from the plant from escaping into Never-Never Land.
See? It’s simple. Just remember---boil water, add herbs, cover, remove from heat, strain, drink, enjoy. That’s it!
Herbs are truly gifts from the earth for your gift from heaven…naturally
